Little Wandle Spelling (Year 2)
Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised is a systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) program for Reception and Year 1 children, designed to help them learn to read letters, blend sounds, and decode words effectively. It is widely used in schools across the UK and supported by the Department for Education.
Little Wandle Spelling is designed to bridge the gap between phonics and formal spelling instruction in Year 2. It helps children consolidate their understanding of the alphabetic code and develop confidence in spelling new words. The program emphasizes phonics as the primary approach, whilst also introducing etymology, morphology, and grammar to support accurate spelling of more complex words.
Crich Church of England Infant School is a small village school, you will find us on Bowns Hill in Crich, Derbyshire. We are a voluntary controlled Church of England School. We are a co-educational day school funded by the local authority.
